Sunday Winnables – Share Your Best Job Interview Story! Take Two

I know it’s not Sunday, but since Stacy is the only one who has entered my contest, I decided to give it another try.

Alison thinks nobody else entered because there were no pictures accompanying the post. Either that or my readers think that a $10 gift certificate to my shop is a really lousy prize! Either way, I am going to see if I can get your attention this time by posting not one, but three pictures!
Enjoy them, and don’t be shy – let us hear your best/worst interview stories! I know you’ve got them! Hurry; you only have until Saturday. Good luck!

  3. love the above cartoons. reminds me of my boss long time ago who stated that newbies right out of college should be happy for the experience at his company and not be paid. yea, try paying your rent in 'experience'.

anywho, here goes...girl interviewing at fashion public relations firm

girl sits down with deer-in-the-headlights look
    interviewer: are you ok??
    girl: i'm extremely nervous.
interviewer: i usually don't read resumees but since you brought one, i'll read it. objective: to design handbags?? do you realize this is a pr firm?
girl: yes, but my life goal is to design handbags.
interviewer: so you want to use my designers, my creative ideas and then go start your own business?
girl: NO! but in 10 years i'd like to design handbags

interviewer (moving on): can you use a computer? can you print labels and such?
girl: labels? you mean those sticky things? well, no, but i guess it's simple to do.

interviewer (in french): can you speak french?
    girl: oui
interviewer spews out 2 sentences in french, girl resumes deer-in-the-headlight look
    interviewer: can you speak french?
    girl: yes, no! um....

    interviewer rolls her eyes.

girl gets job because she's on a 'reality' show called "the hills".

and ok, yes, i watch 'the hills'.

  4. You make such cute stuff!! My craziest interview? Hmm... I can't think of any offhand but once I was working a job (in TV news but not at my current station) and my boss asked if I would change my name to Keisha (it's Jennifer). It was pretty weird! haha

So glad you found my blog! Thanks for stopping by! I'm liking yours as well!

  5. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love your jewelry! Your new labradorite and pearl earrings are beautiful.
I remember fresh out of college and newly married I was looking for a job. I went for an interview in the Capitol building and thought "nice"! All the marble and such. But then they explained the job, sitting in a cubicle sorting forms all day. The interviewer said "looks like you may be over-qualified for this job. DO you think you would be happy?" I responded "No, I think I would go mad" and fled.
I ended up waiting tables temporarily which beat a cubicle hands down. : )
