Monterey Bay Aquarium

During our trip to California last year, we visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  The beauty and variety of sea life never cease to amaze me!  Quite a few of my shots came out blurry, but I was able to get a few good ones in the better lit tanks.

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Brooklyn Bridge and 9/11 Memorial

We recently walked the Brooklyn Bridge!  It was one of those things I always wanted to do, and we finally did it!  If you're interested and are wondering how long it takes, the walk isn't that long - about 20 minutes there and another 20 minutes back.  After all that walking, we enjoyed a waffle with Nutella and strawberries from Wafels and Dinges truck parked at the foot of the bridge.  Delicious!  Here are the views  - I took these shots with my "new" lens, which I am loving!  ("New" is over a year old but I haven't been using it much.)

We also visited the 9/11 Memorial to pay a tribute to those who were killed in the attacks.  The Freedom tower is nearly finished, as you can see from the photos.  If you are thinking of visiting, I highly recommend reserving free passes online ahead of time (a small processing fee applies - I believe it was $2 a ticket).  The line is much shorter for reserved pass holders.

Orchid Show at New York Botanical Garden

Earlier this year, we attended an orchid show at the New York Botanical Garden!  There were thousands of orchids in all colors, shapes and sizes that you can only imagine!  I even dragged my husband to an orchid care class.

Here are a few of my favorite shots from that day - enjoy!

July 4th Fireworks!

Hello everyone!

It has been a while...  As some of you know from my newsletter, I had temporarily made my blog private because I was getting multiple spam comments daily, and it was becoming too much.  I am trying it again to see if the spammers have moved on... let's see how it goes!

What have you been up to lately?  Our lives have been filled with all sorts of excitement, and yesterday was no exception.  First, if it's not obvious from my newly updated banner, let me tell you about my love for fireworks, especially July 4th ones!  Every year, I suggest to Husband that we go watch them, and he usually replies with something like, "I don't think so."  Too hot, too crowded.

This year was different!  For once, I didn't even bring it up, because I knew what the response would be.  And do you know what happened? Husband surprised me with tickets to the Macy's fireworks over the Hudson River!  We got to watch them from the fantail of The Intrepid!  We also ate burgers, hot dogs and pie.  It was a dream come true!

The fireworks were magical!  Here are a few of my shots - it was my first time photographing fireworks, and I was torn between tweaking the camera settings to get better shots and enjoying the show...  I ended up focusing on the show, but think I got a few good ones!

We ended the walk back from the West Side with Mister Softee ice cream.  What a perfect way to celebrate!

Hope you have a fantastic weekend!
